Today I’ve got another excerpt from Emma’s Surrender. I’m really excited about this story of capture, revenge, and unlikely love. It’s darker than my other books, but there is an HEA. Other snippets from this story can be found here and here.

“Stand up,” he bit out.

She stood slowly and waited for the next command, knowing exactly what he was doing. He would test her until she satisfied him with absolute obedience.

“Go stand over there with your nose facing the corner.” He pointed to the wall opposite them.

Tears stung her eyes as she dragged her feet to the corner. She shifted her weight from one foot to the other, feeling like she was on display. The only benefits to being treated like a naughty child and ordered to stand in the corner was that she didn’t have to look at the man who was causing her such humiliation. She was glad he couldn’t see her blinking back tears.

She heard the sofa creak behind her and knew that he had stood. His steps thudded in her direction until he stood behind her slightly to her left so that she could see him out of the corner of her eye.

“Now we’ll discuss rules. You will pay attention, and the only correct response to whatever I say is ‘yes, sir.’ Is that understood?”

She scowled, and rebellion bubbled to the surface. “Yeah.”

The air crackled in silent tension before a blast of pain brought her to her toes. He had struck her bottom, hard, and he wasn’t finished. He spanked her again, even harder, and she bucked into the corner with a yelp, her hips flush against each wall. Even though he spanked over her skirt, she felt the pain his powerful arm inflicted as though she were stripped bare. His left hand reached around and splayed over her belly, pushing her hips away from the wall and holding her in place for the next stroke.
