She fought to absorb the sting of each slap. She wanted to please him, to hear his deep voice praising her once again.
When he stopped spanking and again reached between her legs, she remained still, even as he tortured her by touching everywhere but on the one small spot that sang for attention. He moved his fingers up the dark split of her cheeks and pressed one wet finger against her rosette. “Please don’t, Nathan,” she whimpered. “I’ve learned my lesson.” She wanted to resist, but she also wanted to fail at resisting. Every nerve in her body hummed in response to his bawdy attention.
“Relax your bottom and press against my finger, baby girl,” he said. “Lying is naughty, especially to the law, and bad girls get fucked in their naughty hole.”
Fire licked through her stomach. She shuddered with self-loathing pleasure at his words, uttered in a stern tone with a hint of tenderness. She forced her muscles to relax and arched her back, accepting the finger he slid into her. It felt uncomfortable and oh-so-wicked.
“That’s it,” he crooned. “This is what you’re going to get when you lie to me, pet—me taking you here. Do you feel embarrassed?”
“Yes,” she whimpered.
“Good. That’s how bad girls should feel—wicked and embarrassed.”

In her heart, Emma knows what Nathan tells her is true–that her father’s death was just–but writhing in ecstasy as she is utterly dominated by the man who killed him fills her with shame nonetheless, and she does her best to deny her lust for the handsome marshal. Will the day ever come when she can put aside the past and surrender herself fully to the man she once hated?
