Jonis appeared in no hurry. He cradled her in his massive arms, whispering her name and that she was beautiful. Stroking her hair and marveling at how soft it was, he was a tender titan. He didn’t demand; he cajoled, he wooed, he waited. Her body began to respond of its own volition. She seemed to be dissolving into a pool of golden liquid. Her breath was coming in shorter and shorter gasps. Hanne buried her face into the crook of his neck and willed herself to relax to give in to bliss. The heart scars ran too deep. She couldn’t do it, in spite of the waves of intense pleasure rocking her body. Pleasure was a language she didn’t yet speak. His strong hands cradled her head as he took her deeply and deliberately. Hanne felt exposed and closed her eyes.

“Look at me, snow dove,” he commanded.

She began to gasp, “I’m sorry,” but he shook his head.

“No need to be sorry, you are very lovely. Sometimes a woman needs to trust her man. I promise I will earn your certainty.”

Hanne sighed, her breath moving in waves like the bliss that radiated from her core.

When reading Her Gilded Dragon, I fell into a world that was not only filled with strong characters who were willing to sacrifice it all for those they love but a world that was filled with magic. I loved every moment. Hanne is accused of murder but learns that there are those in the kingdom who believe in her innocence and are willing to risk their own lives to get her to safety. Her travels open her eyes to the world outside the castle walls. Add a man who is not only sexy as sin but has the power of a dragon within him and you can bet that you are going to be turning pages non-stop. I loved the age-old battle of good vs evil, the angst, the passion, the magic and the love. I can’t wait for the next one!

I really enjoy a good fantasy. I also love a good romance. This book combines the best of both worlds. There is such wonderful imagination and enchanting characters it’s just a wonderful read. Medieval-like fantasy with a strong alpha male lead. Secondary characters are just as good with all sorts of magical happenings and goings on. I’m so tired of purchasing romances and being disappointed. I finally found a good one. Here’s hoping Susannah Shannon writes a whole series of these.

I loved this book!! Ms. Shannon does such a wonderful job of bringing the characters to life and weaving the folklore of her world throughout the story. It’s a long journey for our Hanne, but I was hooked from page one!
